Some evenings on Clayoquot Sound, the water glows.

Departing by kayak after dinner in late July or early August, guests paddle a calm, darkened inlet as microscopic organisms light up beneath each stroke – blue-green trails spreading across the surface in silence.

The phenomenon cannot be promised, only offered when weather and tide allow. When it appears, it is among the rarest things the wilderness here has to offer.

Available in late July and early August. Operation is subject to tidal, wind and moon conditions. Bioluminescence cannot be guaranteed.
