Getting here

Vancouver Island is situated in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Travelling to Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge is all part of the adventure and the easiest and quickest way to arrive is to fly to Vancouver on the mainland and take a 45-minute scenic seaplane flight directly to the lodge. Alternatively, guests can boat the 45-minute passage from the relaxed town of Tofino on Vancouver Island. Arrival and departure days are Thursdays and Sundays only.

The world’s wildest adventures are up for grabs at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge. With some 600-acres of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve to explore, it’s choose-your-own-adventure from a line-up of exhilarating experiences from hiking and horseback riding through ancient rainforest to canyoning or kayaking along the Clayoquot Sound’s glacial-fed waters. Jump on a watercraft to encounter incredible marine life or hop in a heli to take in the aerial splendour.

access

A fortunate few enjoy front row access to the grand theatre of Vancouver Island’s unfiltered wilderness, where just 25 Canadian-style safari tents open directly to the Clayoquot Sound, the Bedwell River or towering old growth forest. Untouched by time, there’s nothing between you and this precious landscape that plays host to thousands of species of flora and fauna, many of which are endangered or rare.

With a backdrop of towering mountains, plunging gorges and a maze of ocean inlets and rivers, picture book wildlife roams freely as nature intended at Clayoquot. Black bears forage along the shoreline for barnacles and crabs, giant bald eagles cruise overhead, and beneath the water a raft of otters and seals, sealions and whales clown around in the boundless oceans.
